Guardian Support Center
Find everything you need to get started with Guardian, explore its features, and get help keeping your Windows computer running smoothly.
Four steps to a cleaner PC
Guardian is already installed on PCs managed by 10 Digits. Look for Guardian Endpoint Optimization on your desktop or in the Start menu.
Open Guardian
Windows asks for permission and says "unknown publisher". Check the name says Guardian, then click Yes.
Check your PC
Click LET'S CHECK YOUR PC. Nothing is removed during the check.
Review and clean
Safe items are ticked for you. Untick anything you want to keep, then click CLEAN ALL.
See your results
Guardian shows a before-and-after report of what changed. Save it if you like, then click DONE.
Guardian User Guide
An illustrated, eight-page walkthrough of every screen, including the Windows permission prompt, safety levels and troubleshooting.
You stay in control
Every action has a safety level. Safe items are ticked for you, and anything with a trade-off waits for your approval.
Ticked for you
Temporary files, old logs and caches that Windows rebuilds by itself.
Explained first
Worth doing on most PCs, like the Balanced power plan. You can untick it.
Only if you tick it
Recycle Bin, startup apps and cookies start unticked, with the trade-off explained.
Never touched
Font, icon and thumbnail caches and Windows Prefetch are always left alone.
Guardian always
- Asks Windows for a restore point before changing settings
- Turns startup apps off the normal Windows way, never uninstalls
- Shows a before-and-after report of every change
Guardian never
- Touches your documents, photos, passwords or bookmarks
- Runs risky "registry cleaning"
- Closes your browser without asking
Common questions
Quick answers to what people ask most.
Why does Windows say "unknown publisher"?
Guardian needs administrator permission to clean Windows files, so Windows asks first. It shows "unknown publisher" because Guardian doesn't carry a Microsoft-registered publisher signature yet. If the name says Guardian-Endpoint-Optimization, it's safe to click Yes.
Windows says Smart App Control blocked Guardian.
Some new Windows 11 PCs block apps without a registered signature. Click Okay and email support@10digits.net. We'll adjust the PC so Guardian can run. Please don't turn off other security features yourself.
Will Guardian sign me out of websites?
Not unless you tick Cookies & Other Site Data, which starts unticked. Cleaning the browser cache keeps you signed in.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. The Results tab explains how to undo each step. Startup apps can be turned back on in Task Manager, and Guardian can switch back to your previous power plan. For anything else, System Restore can roll back to the restore point Guardian requested.
It says "Guardian is already open on this PC".
Only one copy runs at a time, so two cleanups never overlap. Click OK and switch to the Guardian window that's already open on your taskbar.
How do I get the latest version?
PCs managed by 10 Digits are updated automatically. You don't need to download anything.
How many times do I need to run Guardian?
Once is enough each time. A single check and Clean All does the full job, so there's no need to run it again straight away. After that, once a month is plenty for most PCs, or whenever your PC feels slow or low on space.
Still need help?
Our team can help with Guardian or anything else on your PC. Include your PC's name, which is shown under the title in the Guardian window.
